Rambling on…
Well, months ago, I started a post about water. I tried and tried to form it into something worthwhile to post here, and I got more information, and still could not get it right.
I often get bright ideas of things I could write about, but by the time I can actually get to writing them down, either someone already posted on it, or I have forgotten all the things I was going to say. My fear of posting rubbish occasionally causes me to not post something, because I have to check that one last thing, and I don’t get to it soon enough, and once again, nothing gets posted.
I dissapoint me.
But life continues on its convoluted paths, and in the midst of the everyday, I always see that which I wish I could share.
Everyone is an individual, and we see the same things, and apply our personal way of thinking to them, and Bravo, we have an opinion. Some of us think a stuffed sheep and a Village People CD is “an embarrassment to Montana”. Some of us think it is no big deal. (How many Brokeback Mountain jokes have you heard in the last couple years? How about fat people jokes? Lawyer jokes?)
I guess I just really don’t care that much. Politicians should be more careful, they live in the public eye, blah, blah, blah. This is me over here, not caring. Rehberg got caught, making an irreverent joke with his friend. Can all those who are lashing out in outrage really say they have never done something similar? Who will see the opportunity for outrage next, and try to score a point on lack of political correctness.
I don’t like being politically and socially correct. I think it is the sissifying of the world. Sometimes a joke is a joke, and… I just deleted an entire paragraph, because if I wrote that, the wolves would be baying at the door. See? I don’t feel comfortable writing about particular subjects, on my own blog, because some of you would undoubtedly be insulted and accuse me of being racist, and promoting violence, and all kinds of other things that are not what I ment at all. So there is correctness for you. We must temper every word, repress our individual opinion, edit content because ’someone” might be insulted.
We must wear a pure white veil to hide the dirty humanity underneath, and cloak the baser, irreverent side of human nature to avoid insulting the thin skinned monster that has become “correctness”. And soon all the “correct” people will agree on everything, no one will ever be insulted, and the world will be a happier place, with ice cream and rainbows for all.
And little old cowboys in Augusta will still sit over a beer and make jokes about Herb with fleece in his zipper, and mention that Daves wife is so big she has to turn sideways to get through the door, and (yep, there was another edit)and they will be the only people left that actually say what they think. Because they don’t really care if you like it, they just think it is funny.
