Reflecting…

on that last post….

suggesting policy, discussing, deciding it is a good thing, directing the manager to carry out… ok. sounds like it could work…part time amateurs… well, most of them ore business owners, they should have decent business sense…be able to problem solve…have confidence in the decisions they make…the mayor, ideal platform for proclaiming the need for change…oh yeah, i’ve heard that…but then that next part…things not up to them to decide…so maybe it might be harder to change things…but some things keep moving right along…what about changing things the public wants changed instead of what the mayor wants changed…I mean it’s great we got a 3 minute rule, but didn’t we want accountability?…didn’t we want elected officials to listen?…economy well, obviously we need to work on that, lets spend a gazillion $$$ trying to decide to build a coal plant, oh shoot, we just gave a big chunk of money to that deal, what about city maintenance? let’s just raise property taxes, we only need a few bucks, no one will notice…even though there are parts of town the city trees haven’t been trimmed in three years…the alley out back that we paid for the city to pave needs repaired again cuz they did such a damn fine job of it…and now they want me to pay to fix the sidewalk out front, even though I can’t hire my own contractor to do it…wonder how many sidewalks $20,000 could buy…course we do need a city manager, can you only imagin how much money the city would waste without one…Influence, that one is tough, almost contradictory to some statements i hear around election time…detailed and complex huh, yeah I can see how you could bumble into stupid decisions that could be costly…but then wouldn’t there be questions and answers…and what about when they still make stupid decisions…that last part there, I understand that, but if it’s a part time hobby, why even get involved, if you are gonna run for office, why not try as hard as you can after you get elected…I mean, you know what you are in for…man, if Free Thought tries to read this post he is going to be so lost & confused…

Do I detect a hint of arrogance and condecension there? Now you’re looking down your nose at my sentence structure, or lack thereof?
