Troy Hydro

10 mw of power generation

Owned by Northern Lights Electric Coop.

There is a small hydroelectric generation facility located on Lake Creek in Lincoln County near Troy, Montana. The project is located near the Kootenai National Forest but does not occupy federal lands.

The project consists of a 44 foot high concrete gravity dam, a 30 acre reservoir with a storage capacity of 150 acre feet. Couple turbines and a step-up transformer.

I found a Libby City Commission meeting from 2001 where they were discussing ownership of a hydroelectric facility. This is the entire discussion.

“Mayor Berget stated that the City of Libby is currently working with Don Smith, on installing a hydroelectric plant at the city reservoir. ” I did not go read through the rest of the meeting munutes to see if it was addressed again.

However, I have found no evidence that the City of Troy owns power generation, and in fact, Northern Lights Inc. is not a Montana company.

The Mayor is kinda cute though.
